Located on the banks of the Nam Khan river and in the heart of Unesco World Heritage site, the hotel is only 10 minutes walking from Wat Xieng Thong and 5 minutes drive from Royal Palace Museum. Originally a rice warehouse on the banks of the Nam Khan (the quieter side of town), the Apsara hotel is right in the heart of the heritage site, making it the nice place to stay. The interior designer Niki Fairchild from Bangkok is in charge of hotel's decoration and make it one of the most chic places in Luang Prabang. The restaurant features polished concrete floors and serves modern European and Asian food and the driest Martinis in town. With Chinese-style lanterns hanging in marvelous multicolored clusters and original art on the walls, the use of color, placement of plants and greenery, riverside and mountain views create a nice ambiance and feeling of well-being.
