Moreover, wooden columns of the shrine on stone blocks are carved and painted with swords, flowers and flags. Additionally, there is a shrine built in brick. HOW TO GET TO PHONGSALI
Phongsali is located in the northernmost part of Laos, 785km from the capital city Vientiane. There are various ways to get to this area depending on your budget, interests and personal travel styles.
Airplane must be the most convenient and comfortable way to get to phongsali if you do not like winding mountain roads in Laos so much. Actually, the phongsaly airport is located in Boun Neua, 42km west of the central town. Hence, once arrived at Boun Neua Airport, you will have to catch an airport van to transfer to Phongsali. The price is around 50,000 Kip for normal van and 10 times more for a private one.
For those who have more time in Laos, boats to Phongsali are available. Just take a local bus to Hat Sa or Muong Khua to catch the boat ride on the Nam Ou River.
Wherever you are in Laos, there will be various local buses to Phongsali. The price ranges from 15,000 to 250,000 Kip based on the distances. There are 2 bus stations in Phongsali – Main Bus Station and Hat Sa Bus Station, which are located a few kilometers from the central town. Thus, you have to catch an extra tuk tuk to transfer to Phongsali for around 10,000 kip.
