7:30 AM: From the border crossing point, you will be greeted and escorted to the cruise boat which departs at 8:00 AM. You will spend two days on boat with an overnight stop in Pakbeng.
The boat will cruise down the Mekong River towards Luang Prabang. On the way, there will be a stop at riverside villages to explore authentic life of hill tribe.
A delicious lunch will be served onboard.
16:30 – 17:00 PM: In the late afternoon, arrive in Pakbeng located between Houay Xay and Luang Prabang. This is a dynamic small town lined with wooden houses. Dinner at the hotel.
Overnight in Pakbeng.
Get up early to visit the morning market where you can immerse in the bustling atmosphere with hill tribe villagers.
8:00 AM: Continue your journey on the Mekong River. Along the way, make a stop at Ban Baw village to observe the making process of laolao – a traditional rice alcohol. Rejoin the boat for a delicious buffet lunch.
Make your way to the Pak Ou Cave featuring thousands of Buddha statues carved on s limestone cliff. Take your time to explore numerous statues with different size and shape.
Cruise further 2 hours downstream from Pak Ou to reach Luang Prabang where you arrive in early evening.
17:00 PM: Upon arrival, our guide and driver will transfer you to your hotel.
Overnight in Luang Prabang
8:00 AM: After breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel for a half day tour of the capital city of Luang Prabang.
Start your journey at Royal Palace also known as the National Museum. It is a great place to explore the rich history of Laos. Continue walking to Wat Mai, famous for its golden bas-relief and Wat Sensoukarahm – noted for its dazzling golden façade.
Your last site in this tour is Wat Xieng Thong – the most famous temple in Luang Prabang. It is considered to be the most historically significant and magnificent of Luang Prabang's temples.
11:30 AM: Transfer back to your hotel.
The rest of the day is at your leisure.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.
5:00 AM: Try to get up early to watch the monks collecting the alms. This is a typical and serene ceremony of Lao spiritualism. Head back to the hotel for breakfast.
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel for a short transfer to Kuang Si Waterfall. The drive will pass through beautiful landscapes of rice fields, mountains and hill tribe villages.
En-route, make a stop at a small village of ethnic minority to learn more about their traditional customs and culture.
Upon arrival at Kuang Si Waterfall, relax and take in the fresh air of natural surroundings. If you wish, you could hike up the top of the fall to get stunning views from the top. It is also a perfect place for bathing or swimming.
Before leaving the waterfall, you have chance to visit the bear sanctuary next to the falls where you can observe and learn more about the habits and the playful nature of bears.
On the way back to Luang Prabang, make a stop at the Kuang Si Butterfly Park to visit the beautiful garden filled of hundreds of Laos’s butterflies!
15:30 - 16:00 PM: Arrive at your hotel
Overnight in Luang Prabang
9:00 AM: After breakfast, make your way to Vang Vieng for around 3 hour drive. En-route, stop in Kasi – a fruit growing area. There will be numerous chances for you to take photos as you pass through spectacular scenery during this journey.
12:00: On arrival in Vang Vieng – a small town nestled on the banks of Nam Song River.
The rest of the day is at your leisure. You could relax with sunset views on the Nam Song River or explore the town on your own.
Overnight in Vang Vieng.
9:00 AM: Take some time to relax before continuing your trip to Vientiane. Along the way, there will be a stop at Nam Ngum Lake – a beautiful spot in Laos.
After short rest at the lake, drive for another 2.5 hours to reach Vientiane. The rest of the day is free to relax. You could stroll along the Mekong River or visit the evening market.
Overnight in Vientiane.
8:00 AM: In the morning, you will discover the beauty of Vientiane – a quiet capital in Laos. Your tour begins with Wat Sisaket – the oldest temple in Vientiane which still maintains its original form. With almost 7000 Buddha statues in its interior, Wat Sisaket is one of the most popular points of Vientiane.
Continue on to the nearby Wat Phra Keo. It is used as a religious museum displaying a collection of both Laos and Khmer art works. Proceed to the Presidential Palace to get a glimpse of its structure which was once served as the French governor’s palace.
Pay a visit to COPE - an association working to help landmine victims to get an in-depth understanding about the history of American/Vietnam war.
Your afternoon journey will start with a visit to Patuxay monument where you can get to the roof for panoramic views of the city. The next site is That Luang – a national symbol and also the most sacred monument in the country.
Make a stop at Wat Simuang – one of Vientiane’s sites of worship. At the end of the day, stroll along the Mekong riverbanks to enjoy sunset.
Overnight in Vientiane
8:00 AM: you will continue your journey south along route 13. In the first leg of the journey, there will be an interesting stop at Wat Prabath Phonsane.
Afterwards, you will enter the Phou Hin Poun NPA where you can see the changes in scenery featuring limestone karsts, forests and rice paddies. Along the way, you could make a stop for picnic lunch in the beautiful settings of nature. Upon arrival in Ban Kong Lor, you have some time for check in, relax and the head out to explore the famous Kong Lor Caves.
After a short walk around the main entrance of the cave, you will board a long tail boat to float along an underground section of the HinBoun River with the length of 7.5 km.
As reaching the other side of the cave, you can make refreshment and make your way to local villages.
Return by boat, travelling ‘downstream’ through the cave, to Ban Kong Lor.
16:30 – 17:00 AM: Transfer to your hotel.
Overnight in Ban Kong Lor
6:30 AM: Early in the morning, you could take a walk to visit surrounding villages with your guide to learn more daily activities of the locals.
Then, take 4 hour drive to Thakhek – a sleepy town with colonial buildings. Arrive in time for lunch at Inthira Thakhek (on your own account).
Afterwards, continue driving to Savannakhet for 1.5 hours. En-route, make a stop at That Ing Hang temple - an important place of worship not only for Laotian Buddhists but also Thai Buddhists.
Continue on to Savannakhet. Savannakhet is located in the south of Laos on the banks of the Mekong River, neighboring Thailand and Vietnam. Take a short sightseeing tour of the city with a visit of various Frech villas and the St. Teresa Catholic Church.
Do not miss out the chance to visit the small Dinosaur Museum where you can find dinosaurs of billions of years old.
17:00 PM: As the day comes to a close, relax with a swim and take a leisurely walk along the river banks.
Overnight in Savannakhet.
8:00 AM: Set off your journey with a drive to Salavan Province and the Bolaven Plateau famous for its dozens of coffee and tea plantations. The plateau is also home to various hill tribes.
After lunch at a local restaurant, make your way to Tad Fane Waterfalls- one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Southeast Asia.
En route, stop to visit a coffee and/or tea plantation. Its fertile plains allow farmers to produce some of the best tea and coffee in the country.
17:00: Relax at your hotel. Dinner on your own. Overnight in Tad Etu.
8:00 AM: Continue your journey to Wat Phou - one of the oldest archaeological sites in Laos.
Situated on a hillside, the temple offers stunning views over the surrounding land and Mekong River. If you are interested in art and history, you will be amazed by the magnificent workmanship in this ruined Khmer temple complex.
Pass through the small town of Champasak and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant.
After lunch, continue south to the region of 4000 Islands, also known as Si Phan Don. Si Phan Don is a magical and unique place where you can mingle with the Laotian village in a quiet location on the banks of the Mekong River.
16:00: Check in your hotel.
Overnight on Khong Island.
8:00 AM: This morning, you have plenty of time to explore the peaceful islands of Don Det and Don Khone – the most important islands of 4000 islands. Riding a bicycle is the best way to explore the region, or if you wish you could take a tuk-tuk.
You will visit the beautiful Lippi falls located on the west of Don Khone near the Cambodian border. Take your time to have a look at a railway and bridge built to overpass the waterfalls.
A short boat trip will then take you to the Irrawaddy Dolphin before transferring to a local restaurant for lunch.
The final site you will visit in this journey is the incredible Khone Papheng waterfalls – the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia. Take your time to admire the majesty of the falls.
In the late afternoon, return to Pakse by land.
17:00 PM: Check in your hotel in Pakse.
Overnight in Pakse.
After breakfast transfer to the Thai border or to the airport for your onward flight.
